April 8/Nature Notes

First Week of April

It's not warm yet but it's definittely looking a lot more like spring here.

Largest square: this belted kingfisher has returned to it;s summer fishing grounds, Beaverton on Lake Simcoe.

Moving clockwise:
1. starlings on bare limbs
2. a cattail  with fluff  blowing in the wind
3. an osprey has come back to its fishing ground on the Trent-Severn Canal, Kirkfield
4. dried grasses on the edge of Reesor Pond, Markham
5. bubbles umber melting ice, Kirkfield

Great photos. I love the one of the bird. It looks and feels a bit more like spring here too but we're in for a mixed bag of weather for the week including snow on the weekend. :(

Love your collages. Not warm yet? You do need to come visit Ocala - it was in the 80s here today and for the rest of the week. In the 50s at night. Very nice. Most of contrarion Ontarions have headed north, however.

We've got a really nice villa for sale in Stone Creek - just think you could spend your winters down here! :)

Wonderful~ Happy for you that it is almost spring. I am so envious that you got the Kingfisher photo! I have tried forever...they fly the minute I even think camera.!

What a great photo of that Kingfisher! And I'm envious of your Osprey sighting - I love seeing them. I love how numerous the bird calls are in our yard now - so happy for spring's return!

Oh, I would so love for a kingfisher to sit still long enough for me to capture him...

As for ice--it was 80ยบ F here today!
