Roadside Flowers/Nature Notes

Roadside Wildflowers

This time of year when the sun shines, it shines brightly and shade seems dark in contrast.

Largest square: tiger swallowtail sampling nectar offered by white flowers on a wild shrub.

Moving clockwise: St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum); butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa); butterfly on cinquefoil (potentilla erecta), common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), and chicory (Cichorium intybus).

Beautiful flowers and butterflies. I haven't seen many butterflies yet but I tend to have more in my yard in the late summer.
