Chippy/ Camera Critters

We have several chipmunks living in burrows around the yard and, yes, in my gardens. This one likes to walk the wall in front of our house. I feed him a few sunflower seeds every day, so I knew he'd appear eventually as I weeded the garden. Since I neglected to leave him any seeds this time, he stayed only long enough time for me to snap his picture. As you can see, he knew I was there and wasn't taking any chances. My husband says if I continue to leave him a few seeds every day he'll stick around longer. ;-)

  2. Cute! I'm guessing they don't actually dig and eat in your garden or you wouldn't be so welcoming.

  3. Now this is a very cute little fella. He was so nice to stay long enough for you to get the shot.

  6. I just saw another great chipmunk picture! These make me happy. They are just so fun to watch! I'd probably be guilty of leaving him more than a "few" seeds!

  7. I, too, would be leaving more than a few seeds. Where my husband worked, his crew had the chipmunks so gentle they would all come and take stuff from their hands.

This is a great picture, BTW.

  8. I caught one once and kept him as a pet. He lived 4 more years. I always wondered if he had a longsr life span that if I had left him in the wild. I wouldn't do it again because one shouldn't. MB

  9. What a sweet-looking guy. Nice how you captured him with those green leaves/grass shooting out; provides a nice framework for the shot.

  10. Nice little chap! I had two chippies in my garden last year but haven't seen them this year.
I think last winter was pretty hard on little creatures, as we have very few squirrels this summer, compared to the marauding herds of them we had last summer.

  17. He's a handsome fellow. We don't have chipmunks here in HAwaii, but I always watch for them when I travel to the U.S. Mainland.
