I has been cool for late August/early September so I've only seen only a few monarchs on my Buddleia this year. But I caught one sipping nectar from the lilac-colored bush on the south side of my house.

What a star of a butterfly on such a pretty purple bush!
ReplyDeleteVery good shot! I've not seen any of those around here. The flower or the butterfly. That one looks perfect. Most I have seen have damaged wings.
ReplyDeleteWhat's more beautiful, the bush or the butterfly? Great capture.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot! I haven't seen any Monarch butterflies this year, but found some other ones.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect shot! Beautiful color. I haven't seen many monarchs this year and you captured this one beautifully.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower, but my that butterfly is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOne terrific photo!
Beautiful image. You are so good at this. MB
ReplyDeleteOh yes,how I love this flower! When I was a child we had a bue and a white bush in our garden, and the butterflies came to drink, and for me the utmost feeling of sommer is the sight and the smell of Buddleia!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
I love it when the Monarchs fly! It's so lovely. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly plus the gorgeous flowers make a stunning pic! Love this!
ReplyDeleteThese butterflies are not plentiful this year. I suspect there is a decline in Milkweed that it grows on due to spraying. Still, it is a beautiful photograph.
ReplyDeleteMy flower is posted at > Thunder Maker
Awesome flower shot. Love the butterfly, too!

I have noticed the same thing here. I have had butterflies one at a time but no clusters. My bush is not as happy either, I think it was too wet this summer for it to do really well - the flowers turned brown very quickly. They are really something to see all covered with butterflies aren't they? Like flowers on flowers!
ReplyDeletewonderful picture!
ReplyDeleteOh my, so much beauty, flower and monarch together...
ReplyDeleteI haven't always lived in Stanwood but have lived in the vicinity. We had a small farm that progress wanted and so now our old place is a Water company surrounded by new houses.--UGH!! I am still bitter, I guess, but I so love the little piece of country up in the hills I have now. MB
ReplyDeleteLovely photo with a beautiful butterfly.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful capture. I've had no luck with butterfly photos.
ReplyDeleteStunning photo! You asked me what the flower is called which I show now on my blog. Well inspite of my books about Australian plants I cannot find its name.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say hi, as I am also in Southern Ontario, I found you from today's flower post.
ReplyDeleteYou have taken some beautiful photo's, hopefully one day I will be as good.

ReplyDeleteDid you end up with a Horse Chestnut in your yard. The squirrels forget.
Excellent photo! I haven't seen a lot of butterflies this year either. Mostly frittilaries, a few swallowtails with chewed up wings and, sadly, no monarchs.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot.Nice colors.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful monarch photo. I only saw one this summer. Not good..
ReplyDeleteButterfly and flowers, perfect composition!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got to go to Yellowstone as you mentioned in your comment on my blog.
I thought about your blog while we were touring the Park as my daughter prepared a very thorough and interesting touring schedule and did such an excellent job that I thought she would make a super professional tour guide, which made me think about your blogging name and the beautiful photographs that you post.
