And notice you can't start them skating too young.

  3. I use to skate when I was a kid, but as I grew older I became increasingly more subject to gravity! :)

  4. I guess I would have to pass that ... the only skaters I got into my foot where roller ones and both times I landed flat on the ground!
But it's a very nice shot.

And I sure did like the monochromatic one.

  7. They're not that bad at skating! The ones I love are the tiny ones pushing a chair around on the ice (to hold them upright).

  11. Oh, how I remember those days. One year I broke my collar bone ice skating on my birthday, and the very next year on my birthday I fell and broke my wrist while skating! I did get better at staying upright.

  16. I like the sharpness of the photo. It's a very happy image too, must be because of the colors.

I would have wanted to learn to skate, but growing up in the tropics this was not possible.

  19. Very colorful photo of a neat outdoor sport! I went ice skating when I was in my early 30's for the first time -- it wasn't bad! I jsut never had another opportunity to do it with friends so I don't go to the indoor rinks we have now.

  20. From a nandina bush next to my house - they are red all winter with red berries. Although its been in the 50's, 60's and 70's consistently all winter. The rest from a hike along the Oklahoma river yesterday.

    Great post for My World.

  21. Wonderful to see all those happy people skating or just walking on the ice. Everybody here was happy as long as there was ice, but now it's melting again.

  23. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Growing up in the sunny South where the only rinks are indoors the closest I came to this was street hockey on rollerblades -- and that wasn't until my 30's. So I concur wholeheartedly... you can't start 'em too young!

    Looks like a blast!

  32. Looks like cold fun. I'd need double runners. Always prefered roller skating in warm weather, or in the basement.
