Silo in Monchrome/ Sepia Scenes
I'm not sure why this silo has a cupola and wind vane, but it's on a farm north of East Gwillimbury. It's the same one pictured in colour at More of Me - Another Side.
However, I do know that some grain silos have been converted into "cottages" or small homes, at least one of which exists in East Gwillimbury. If this IS one of those converted silos, I wonder how the occupants arrange their furniture along the curved outside walls. The staircases must be circular, don't you think? It must be a cozy lifestyle! (I wonder where I would keep all my stuff.)
FYI: Someday I hope to get brave enough to ask the owner of the for-sure silo house in East Gwillimbury to tell me all about his/hers. I have a photo taken from the road...but I'd LOVE to see it from the the doorway side. Until then...stay tuned.

Hi There, Beautiful monochrome picture.. Love seeing barns and silos.
ReplyDeleteWe use "Liquid Fence" to protect our flowers from the deer. It's a spray --and so far has WORKED. It doesn't hurt anything --but the deer don't like it.
Hugs,
Betsy
Nice photo! I've never seen a silo with a cupola and vane, either.
ReplyDeleteI also can't imagine how one could ever be turned into living quarters. The smell is horrendous - could you ever get rid of it?
That is really neat! I think I would love to live in a silo like that! You could see for miles around. Reminds me of a lighthouse where people live.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely little silo! Looks very good in sepia!
ReplyDeleteLove your silo photo in sepia. I'm with you, curious, but where would all my "stuff" go?
ReplyDeleteThat would be a very nice cottage converted from a silo. I like that idea. Fine shot, as always.
ReplyDeleteInteresting information about these converted silos and a great shot too!
ReplyDeleteStunning picture.. I would go and ask the owners of the 'For-Sure' silo all about it. I would imagine them being pround you asked
ReplyDeleteA silo, really any silo, is in need of decorating, or at least to hide the utilitarian nature of these structures. The glassed in turret is perfect, giving light to the field mice and whatnot that live in the silo!
ReplyDeleteI thought when I saw this on RT that it would really be neat to have as some kind of housing if only a reading nook!
ReplyDeleteTell the house owners that we ALL want to see what's in their house! Great shot today.
ReplyDeleteFascinating subject, and it looks great in sepia. How mysterious and charming it is.
ReplyDeleteCool shot! Somebody sure did "pretty up that silo"!
ReplyDeleteYou find the best stuff! I would like to see one of these made into a home. Like you, I wonder where the furniture would fit. lol. Thanks for all the great photos!
ReplyDeletefascinating information and photo. A silo with a cupola is truly novel. The sepia works very well with this image. And, I agree with you on my website, tall date palm trees are magical and remind us all of Arabian Nights. So true!
ReplyDeletePerfect subject for sepia. Helps bring out the charactor of this silo. Smiles B
ReplyDeleteNice shot & I like the angle too - not to mention the sepia shading - I love your sepia photos!
ReplyDeleteLovely scene, especially with that nice weather vane on top! I like the sepia treatment! Rock on!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a silo with a cupola and vane, either.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. I recognize it without it's green hat. I was going to post barns of the valley tonight but didn't--maybe tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI hope you could get inside pics of the curved cottage. MB
Beautiful, makes it appear all the more classic and old in sepia! Its one of those places you'd see me reading a book in a nook!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, it seems more B&W than sepia. Looks a really special place to live in.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are really lovely. I'm starting to appreciate sepia more and more and have posted a snowy picture on my photograph blog in sepia. Yours are far superior however.

EG, does the silo house have any windows? And I laughed picturing the furniture against the walls... Ha! Nice skylight though. :)
ReplyDeleteThe silo does look like maybe it was converted. Here in CA some people convert water towers which have a similar structure. We used to stay in one every year. It was cozy (to say the least!) but funny and fun - and the staircase was like the inside of a lighthouse.

Wonderful shot and perfect in sepia! Silos like these are vanishing quickly I think.
ReplyDeleteliving in a silo - what a cool thing
ReplyDeletewonderful photo
Beautiful shot! I love the little horse!
