Pattchwork Roof/ Sepia Scenes

Evidence of roof repair

This old house is actually in very good repair so I was surprised to see how the shingles on the tower roof didn't match in several places. I imagine that since the angle is so steep that this requires scaffolding to work on it.

    Can you imagine trying to do that roof? I guess whatever shingles were handy were the ones used.

    Maybe a lift? I sure wouldn't want to try to shingle that steep of a roof.

    I like these old gothic looking buildings...easy to imagine bats flying out at twilight. :)

    I wonder how old that house is. At least it is getting repaired and nobody wants to do a steep roof.

    Great sepia entry!! I love that type of architecture and it is especially attractive in sepia where there is no color to distract from the great line of the roof!!! Thanks for sharing.

    This house is so stylish, especially with the turret. The price for style is a roof that has to be re-shingled at great effort. Unlike a newer house, the style here evokes a different era, no two houses are ever alike...

    This is an extraordinary house, EG! My house has tile shingles and over the years roofers run out of shingles that are the same color... Thanks for sharing this great sepia shot! :)

    Old homes are artwork. I don't blame them for leaving the patchwork as is - I would be terrified if I was the one hired to fix it.

    It's a lovely building - I think I'd enjoy living there (if it were in good repair), but I definitely wouldn't want to be responsible for shingling that roof!
