Hawthorn Berries/ Macro Monday

Closeup of haws (hawthorn berries)

Haws look a lot like small crabapples, don't you think? They are ripe now and can be used to make delicious jelly.

  15. I love the colours.

The Chinese make them into dried disc and kids are encouraged to eat them as an alternate to sweets and biscuits.

Unsweetened ones are used to treat a stomach ache.

I have never been to China. Your photo is the first one I have seen. I wonder if they have it in New Zealand.
