Zephyr Creek last Saturday morning
The temperature overnight had been minus 18° Celsius (0°F) so you can see ice crystals on the ice in the lower right-hand corner. The water here flows fairly fast so the freezing temperatures haven't been low enough for long enough to freeze all the water here.
Not a super-clear photo here of these crystals, some of which are about 2 inches long. I hope you understand why I decided to NOT walk out on the ice to get a closer shot.
Partly frozen---I think at that temp I would be totally frozen. Those Ice crystals are beautiful. Silver stars--(well white anyway).
ReplyDeleteNeat shots and please don't go out on the almost ice. MB
Our lake is pretty frozen, different that a moving stream! I have a photo of similar crystals, must post it!
ReplyDeleteThe cats helped me take a walk on the ice, just near shore. what fun!
I envy you those "stars" on the water!
ReplyDeleteOh EG, I love those ice crystals... They look like God has dropped little stars all over the place. How neat is that!!!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas.
Hugs,
Betsy

I think you got a wonderful shot of the ice crystals, and I'm sure glad you didn't walk out on the ice to try and get another one. I like the blue in that first photo as well.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that soon enough it will be totally frozen. I just love the second photo.
ReplyDeleteFlows to a quieter tune. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that you got as close as you did. Be careful out there.
ReplyDelete(singing) Have yourself a merry little Christmas...
Wow, those crystals fell out of the sky? I've never seen such a thing. The stream is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBrrr, I don't like this cold weather. If this continues, it will be frozen over in no time.
