  4. This is an awesome photo! Maybe his little feet are so tiny that they aren't quite so prickly!

  5. Well he looks a bit tippy toed at that. That is a super picture. You must have a good zoom on your camera.

BTW: mine is back in the shop for the third time and I told the guy I just want a new camera or my money back. So we will see. MB

  12. I don't know how the goldfinch does it and I don't know how you do it either. That is such a wonderful, clear, stunning closeup.

  15. Now, that's a very good question! More to the point, perhaps, where have all the goldfinches gone from around here? I have had NONE on my thistle feeder this year. :(

That's a gorgeous picture, by the way. I love it. :)

  16. great photo of the goldfinch! fun little birds and i often wonder too..how to birds not get hurt from the prickly stuff?! it never seems to bother them though!

  17. On tiptoes. If the little guys can walk on top of two feet of powdery snow without sinking in, a few thorns won't be a problem.

    Marvelous portrait.

  23. Great image! I'm pining for a telephoto lens as I type. We've had goldfinches at our feeder for a couple of days now and I've strategically placed it near a window so I'm hoping to be able to lean out and get a good photograph. Won't be anything like this since I can't change the background - love the soft focus background and the crispness of the spines. Very nicely done!
