Dried seed pod of a wild vine that grows rampantly over anything in its path.
Luckily it's an annual and is easily pulled out!
This is what the seed pod looks like when the weather begins to break it down.

Now that is just plain scary...no wonder it runs roughshod over everything - who of what's gonna stop it with those spikes!'
ReplyDeleteYikes!
We also have some wild weeds that have some disturbing seed pods. This one you photographed looks like you might get stuck trying to remove it.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it would hurt if you sat on it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting the inside looks like a luffa sponge, but I don't think I would like it in the shower with me.
ReplyDelete~~ Hugs~~
Oh --what an ugly thing!!! Glad we don't have them here (at least to my knowledge). We do have dandelions---which multiply very very fast. When I was a little gal, I'd blow that white seed pod all over the place not knowing that I was growing Dandelions everywhere around!!!! ha...

Nasty looking seed pod photographed beautifully. Excellent detail!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of it! Is it edible before it goes to seed? I don't dislike it -- I find it great photograph subject.
ReplyDeleteLots of detail and great textures!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots!
Round The Bend.
Wow now that is very interesting. We had some growing along the fence line on a Berry Farm I worked at. The dried pods look kinda like the body snatchers pods. Hmmmmm. MB
ReplyDeleteExcellent detail. I don't ever remember seeing a dried cucumber pod.
ReplyDeleteHappy Macro Monday
You are very skilled at photography, wonderful macro!

That's very picturesque! Nice contrast you've captured there, too.
ReplyDeleteI imagine you'd need stout gloves to 'just pull' that out! LOL!
Thorny plant. YOu have to watch out for those invasive ones. Great picture!
ReplyDeleteThorny but inside looks like sponge...great macro shot!
ReplyDeleteMacroMonday:Pinecones

ReplyDeleteI've never seen these before! Remarkable!
ReplyDeleteLooks a little prickly!
ReplyDeletewhat an interesting plant.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. I wouldn't want to step on one of those in my bare feet.
ReplyDeleteThese are great macros of the wild cucumber seed pods.
ReplyDeletevery cool photos, but oh so ouchy looking. Good thing you can pull it out easily.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what you find in the wetlands.
I guess you would need gloves for this one...
ReplyDeleteThese photos of bur cucumbers are WAY better than mine! Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteYour photos of this wild cucumber seedpod are wonderful but methinks I'm glad these don't grow anywhere near me. The look like they'd be a constant challenge. I've been having trouble visiting because Mozilla keeps crashing (It seems I have a faulty WLAN card) ... but I'm doing what I can this morning catching up in my reader before clicking over to comment.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,

I have never seen such a thing as a wild cucumber.
