Museum Barn/ Sepia Scenes

Old barn on the grounds of the Sharon Temple Museum, Sharon (East Gwillimbury), Ontarioo

East Gwillimbury, like most of the towns around here, has a museum honouring the first settlers in the area. The people who first settlers in Sharon (one of five main communities that make up EG) were the Children of Peace (aka Davidites), a Quaker breakaway sect inn the early 19th century led by David Willson who had a passion for music in religious services, unlike his contemporary Quakers.

This is one of the buildings on the museum grounds.

    Very nicely done, EG. I would like to spend a few hours wandering about that museum. Interesting how sects divide and subdivide all claiming to have the "truth"!

    Wow, this is such a great shot! I love the structure and the sepia tones are so nice! I use picnik to achieve my sepia and the choices are never what I really want. Too pink... too yellow. I'll have to play in Photoshop a little more, I guess.

    This museum is a gem. The style from way back then is perfect in monochrome, the weathered look of the wood siding is enhanced. A soft monochrome seems to warm up the scene, an antique barn full of historic treasures...
