Flowering Quince/ Today's Flowers

Quince (Chaenomeles speciosa) blossom

These lovely quince blossoms are on a a five-foot high hedge next to a neighbour's driveway.

Branch of quince blossoms

This is not the edible quince, though I have heard the fruit from this plant can be made into delicious jellies.

  1. It's a lovely flower, such a vibrant red which is one of my favorite colors. I've heard of that kind of jelly but never tried it. Thanks for sharing and have a great Sunday!

  6. Very pretty. We went to a restaurant once in Deland, Florida, which served edible flowers. I wonder if one of them was the edible quince.

Hope you have a great week!

  20. I have a flowering quince, but it is not flowering yet. Those thorns are fierce though. I have made quince jelly from the edible kind - very delicious it is too.

  25. The Quince are starting to bloom here too. I have made Quince jelly too. I once gave one of my daughter's boyfriend a Quince and told him it was an apple. I think he is still all puckered up. I thought it was funny. He didn't come back very often. Good!! BTW: excellent pic.
