A muskrat dragging some greenery back to its abode
I'm not sure if the foliage is food or something fresh to line the muskrat's home, but the muskrat was on a mission and didn't notice me or my camera. The muskrat lives in a den just beneath the branches you see here.

Busy little muskrat. I wonder if they have babies in the spring. Amazing that you could spot it.

I, of course, thought it was a beaver before reading your copy.
ReplyDeleteHow neat. What a great catch. That touch of green is just right too. MB
ReplyDeleteI thought it looked like a beaver also. Maybe they're cousins. We have beavers in my home area of eastern Texas but no muskrats. You keep giving me things to ponder over! Oh, BTW, what a great capture!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! I love to see these creatures -- they are so busy and intent on their business. Lovely place to walk there! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie :).

great picture--my dad liked to tell a story of a time he accidently hooked a muskrat while fishing. He reeled it in to remove the hook--but the muskrat didn't feel to kindly towards my dad and bit his raft. My dad had to paddle as hard as he could to make it back to sure before the ship sunk.
