Beaver River/ Nature Notes

On the banks of Beaver River, Cannington, Ontario

A walk on a sunny day last week was made even nicer when my camera spotted this turtle sunning himself beside the Beaver River.  He/ she wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention to me!

Nearby, these plants were growing: forget-me-nots (Myosotis scorpioides), tufted vetch (Vicia cracca), fleabane (Erigeron philadelphicus), swamp milkweed (Asclepias  incarnata) and bullhead lily (Nuphar variegatum).

  1. I love turtles and you captured a great one. That orange thing popping out of the water is Just Strange. An Alien Plant.

  4. This is a lovely collage. Usually when I see the turtles, they jump back into the water before I can snap a shot. You're lucky he posed for you!

  9. Very cool collage of nature shots. The turtle was very cute. I looked for some at our local pond over the weekend and I could not find one. Good to come here and see this one.

  10. It must take a long time or a lot of sun for the turtle to get warm up with it's thick shell. Great find.

  15. I love all the flowers that you are able to ID...and of course the turtle. I noticed that my common milkweed is coming up well across the pond..but I haven't seen a single monarch yet.....it was a hard winter for them....Michelle
