Wild orange daylily, a.k.a. ditch lily (Hemerocallis fulva)
Beautiful...but not for most of my gardens. This wild daylily is invasive. Truth be told, however, I do have a nice patch of these lilies on town property close to the road.
Beside the road between East Gwillimbury and Uxbridge, Ontario
This is how I love them best, mixed with other wildflowers beside country roads.

Beautiful lilies. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThey do look beautiful scattered about with the rest of the wildflowers. I don't see them out here......or I'm not looking. MB
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures.
ReplyDeleteI know they are invasive but I love to look at the Ditch Lilies.
Brighten our meadows, parks and streets.
Thank you for your comment.
such beautiful photos of flowering summer.
ReplyDeletewow..marvelous. I'd like to lie in that flowery field and watch the sky...beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot of the field of flowers. I love seeing large groups of dayliles next to the roads.
ReplyDeletePretty one!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing more beautiful to me that naturalized flowers in a field. The second shot is my idea of heaven.
ReplyDeleteYou could pick armloads!! sandy
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a tiger lily, but without the spots. I agree, they are very pretty in a field mixed with a variety of other colors of flowers.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about the exquisite beauty of roadside mixes of lilies et al! What are the blue flowers behind the closeup?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know this...the deer came and ate all the lily flowers last night..just stalks are left....
ReplyDeletei love a field of wildflowers. i don't think we have fields of wildflowers here.:p
ReplyDeleteI like both of these...I am with you on not having any of those lilies cause they are so invasive...but I still love them!
ReplyDeleteAnd that second shot would make a beautiful painting.
A very nice flower, for a very nice photograph... Just perfect !
ReplyDeleteThat is a really pretty wildflower meadow - we don't have wild daylilies here.
ReplyDeleteAlthough your close-up of the lily is beautiful, I really like your picture of the field. That is definitely a wonderful scene.
ReplyDeleteNow that is the kind of "weed" I wouldn't mind invading my yard.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the field of wildflowers. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou asked where in Maine I was going... We're heading to Prospect Harbor and to Schoodic Point which is the "forgotten" part of Acadia park.
I'm still working on that blurb book, but I'm seeing the end of the tunnel!
gorgeous colours...and i can't believe there's a field of them. you know growing up in Oz, all I ever see was tall dry grass.

ReplyDeleteahhh! too bad they are invasive but they are awfully pretty, can't lie about that!
ReplyDeleteDay lily, ditch lily. I think I like the first name best. Your work is gorgeous.
ReplyDelete«Louis» would not be offended if someone 'ditched' some of those lilies in his yard!
ReplyDeleteOh sure! In fact I would love to stroll around there.
ReplyDeleteWe have "ditch" lilies around here, too. Like you, they are much nicer mixed with other wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteI love lilies...! great shots!
ReplyDeletemine is here

ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how something so pretty can be invasive. The wildflowers are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteWhen it is a patch, it is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou know what, I just found out the song Land of the Silver birch is a Canadian song, and according to some, is the unofficial Canadian Anthem. I was taught this song and we thought it was American.
I was comment with another blogger when she asked me if my tree in my plants site was a birch tree. Just this afternonn, the music teacher was teaching some kids this song. The musc room is next to mine, and I sang it to myself. i went to the U tube, and has been sing the song of my youth.
