Potato Blossoms/ Today's Flowers

Blossoms on potato plant (Solanum tuberosum)

Did you know there are more than 5,000 varieties of potatoes? (Neither did I till I looked it up.) The blossoms can be white, pink or  purplish but I see mostly white around here.

  1. Sometimes I "grow" potatoes in my garden by mistake (i.e., by compost). I've never let them go to flower - I guess I might be rewarded with these pretty white flowers? Love the view of the field.

  9. There are no better potatoes than the ones that you have just pulled from the earth that day. And the fields in bloom are lovely.

  11. Oh you!!! I just took some potato field pictures and here we have white, pink and pruply-blue flowers.
I always say I am going to plant potatoes all around the house because they get such pretty flowers and they stay the same height and then I would have a harvest too. Never did it though. LOL
