Shiny new harvesting machine
I was hoping the driver was smiling as he came at me with this huge machine!
The weather in south-central Ontario has been sunny and warm this summer and wheat is ready to harvest in many farmers' fields. This machine has circled the field once cutting...
Ripened wheat
Starting with the largest square and moving clockwise: large red harvester cutting wheat, smaller green harvester pouring wheat kernels into hopper to be taken away, red machine cutting wheat, field not quite ripe for cutting, green machine cutting and leaving windrow of straw, close up of front wheat with fire extinguisher above it
Back of harvester leaving cut straw in windrow

These are all beautiful, EG! You captured well what goes in to harvesting wheat! I hope you had your running shoes on when taking that first shot!
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots EG. These could be Ruby Tuesday too. No big harvesters out here...yet. Maybe in Eastern Wa. I am always amazed how fast the seeds are separated from the stem---and how(?). MB
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing back memories of wheat harvests when I was growing up. Of course we didn't have such huge machines back them. I love your pictures and mosaic.
ReplyDeleteI like this wheat harvest series, EG... and your mosaic collage. Reminds me of the many times I drove across Canada (and Minnesota). Now it's been quite a while since I saw a harvester. Good one!
ReplyDeleteThe top shot is scary! :-) Great angle!
ReplyDeleteI love this because I love anything that is organic and old. We're known for artichokes and lettuce here and enjoy watching the crops being harvested. Fascinating.
ReplyDeleteexcellent images as usual and thanks for the mini tour.
ReplyDeleteYou are ahead of us with your wheat, even though you are more northerly; I guess that is because of our unusually late summer here in Oregon. I love wheat fields, before, during and after harvest.
ReplyDeleteSo many cool shots EG, The season is marching along so fast. Some of the farmers around here are already on their second cutting of hay, and I saw my first Canada geese training flight this morning.
ReplyDeleteB.
Just beautiful...Bravo!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo series. These are common sights in my neck of the woods too. Makes me excited for the next couple of months.
ReplyDeleteThe first shot is so cool !
ReplyDeleteLoved these...I really love that one photo on the right side of the collage--the one in the middle. That sky looks fabulous.
ReplyDeletea very efficient machine. a very brave move shooting in front of the harvester. did the driver give you a wave?:p
ReplyDeleteFantastic collage, I love it. So much color and movement.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this "all in a day's work" coverage.
ReplyDeleteThis must also be your Ruby Tuesday post, EG! :)
ReplyDeleteCome and visit my “What Would You Do?” post. It really happened to me…
Wonderful shots. That machine is really huge.
ReplyDeleteThese machines are enormous ! we had them each year behind our house on the field, but now unfortunately there are houses.
ReplyDeleteWhat a big machine, how many humans did it replace? Your farms are so big, You need machines.
