American Lady/ Macro Monday

American lady (Vanessa virginiensis) butterfly

This lovely American lady has been coming to my butterfly bushes every day. Finally she stayed still long enough for me to capture with my lens.

  3. Those butterflies do require patience, but this one was surely worth the wait.

  4. Nice shot. My wife has left a huge weed growing in the back of our yard because it attracts birds and butterflies. I must keep my eye on it.

  10. Haha... I can so relate. There are clusters of small butterflies flying around our neighbourhood, but they never stop long enough for me to take a clear photo. You got yourself a beauty, EG.

  21. Oh, how pretty!

I planted a buddleia last autumn, and it bloomed quite well this summer, but I didn't see one single butterfly on it! Hoverflies and bees, and the odd beetle, but no butterflies. :(

Your 'American Lady' looks just like our 'Painted Lady'!
