Wild turkey
Question: Why did the turkey cross the road?
Answer: He wanted to prove he wasn't a chicken.
But actually, these guys were big chickens - afraid of me and my camera, but not of the car! So I stayed inside and took photos out the window.
Monday is Canada's Thanksgiving, a BIG day for turkeys to be afraid...very afraid.

Does wild turkey taste different than farm-raised turkey? I would guess so.
ReplyDeleteFunny joke. You Canadians are so droll!
I saw some wild turkeys in Colorado but they ran too fast for my camera!
And yes, that water can eat golf balls also. At least it has eaten several of mine!
We have a lot of wild turkeys on our farm. Not the most beautiful of creatures!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you!!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder the turkeys were trying to hide--but he would need to fatten up a bit. LOL

Happy Thanksgiving on Monday! What a GREAT turkey photo! Either the turkey was really close or you have a big telephoto lens or both!
ReplyDeleteAs I was heading (driving) down the hill from our home several days ago, I had to stop the car and wait as several families were walking right on the highway (country road). So funny!
ReplyDeleteOf course I didn't have my camera. ;)
Oops, yes, Happy Thanksgiving! go easy on the mashed potatoes. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat shot - they do look huge. I'm a vegetarian so they'll be safe with me! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThey really are turkeys, being afraid of you and the camera but not of the car. Duh, huh?
ReplyDeleteGood idea, "shooting" them from the car. Nice results.

No wonder they are afraid, many of them were sacrificed this weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot.
Happy Thanksgiving on Monday!
We don't do Thanksgiving here, but there'll be a turkey on the table come Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMaking me hungry.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I've been able to capture wild turkeys is through the car window as well. But you did get a great picture.
Great close up!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots of the turkeys. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLove the subtly different tones of the turkey's feathers! And beautiful bokeh in contrast!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, T.G. We were in the Cowansville, Eastern Township (Quebec) a few years back for Thanksgiving. It was a very quiet day.
ReplyDeleteWe have both kinds of wild turkeys in Texas.
..
They sure aren't very attractive are they? I guess their "cute challenged"!
ReplyDeleteNubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Great photo. I haven't seen a wild turkey yet.
ReplyDeleteNice contrast between the browns in the turkey and the colors behind. And go ahead... enjoy your turkey tomorrow, EG! (Am not being cynical.)
ReplyDeleteLike how the turkey stands out from the colorful background :)
ReplyDeleteThat background sure is perfect for the colors of the turkey.
