Hoar frost on purple smoke bush (Cotinus Coggygria)
This purple-green smoke bush is actually a lower branch on a seedling a friend gave me a few years ago. It has grown fast! Earlier this year it had purple-pink plumes that look sort of like smoke, hence the bush's name. Unfortunately, I did not think to take photos of them at the time so hopefully I will remember next year!
Beads of water on purple smoke bush
I love the way water beats up on the leaves.

ReplyDeleteI love the hoarfrost on the leaves. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteThese are great shots, love the frost :)
ReplyDeleteThat smoke bush is so pretty in purple with the hoar frost. I'll look forward to seeing it later with the plumes.
ReplyDelete[I don't really know the first thing about flowers, but that yellow one I posted, if blogger Lui is correct, is a periwinkle (although I can find no reference to a yellow colored one), which is considered a weed. I don't even know why one flower is a weed and another one not. I do know it was not purposely planted in our garden, and that is my rough definition of a weed. :-D ]
These are both gorgeous shots. I love frost and water in macros.
ReplyDeleteThe frost I can do without...but I like the bush. Smokin'!

You know, we have a purple smoke bush (I've also been entranced by the water drops on it earlier this year) but I only hope that if we get frost it looks this good on the leaves. Just gorgeous, and beautifully composed.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Ms. Macro Maestro. the droplets are exquisite and the hoarfrost perfect.
ReplyDeleteWe had a touch of snow this morning and as it disappeared the day turned out fine. Temps in the low 30sF and now 10PM 29F. but dry and the sky is clear. Beautiful full moon too. MB
