The harbour at Olcott, New York (U.S.A.)

The harbour is iced in for the winter but the water out in the lake is blue and ice free.

  2. winter/summer it's always beautiful. I hope you'll join in the bi-monthly discussions of War and Peace. There is supposed to be on this month sometime. You should post some pictures that tell a little bit about the work you do in your community. It would be very interesting.

  10. What a lively photo for a winter harbour! It is very beautiful.
Is the sea always ice-free? Once it was freezing so hard that the rivers were all frozen over and the ferry couldn't cross the river where I live. This will only happen once in a life time.

  14. You still have liquid water! But then, this is one of the Great Lakes, so it takes a lot to freeze them solid!

  15. I suppose that because I'm so used to seeing the beaches of California, it is so odd to be to see a shore lined with ice and snow. Beautiful though.

  20. Lovely shot! I haven't been brave enough to approach the lakeshore this winter - you certainly have! I meant to comment yesterday on how beautiful your swan shots were - thanks for all the info about the swans - I had no idea there were 2 such distinct types.
