Sleeping Beauty's place, somewhere north of Ajax, Ontario
Did you know Sleeping Beauty is Canadian? Well. I didn't either until I found her place on a broken road north of Ajax.
As soon as I saw the castle with the thicket of briars growing up all around I KNEW it was Sleeping Beauty's! I was flustered trying to figure out which turret she must have been in when she pricked her finger. If I had been thinking more clearly, I would have found a handsome prince to kiss her and wake her up.
The south end of the castle
The gate was locked, no trespassing signs were on it and a surveillance camera was in view. (That wicked fairy had thought of everything!) But a prince would know how to get in, wouldn't he?

hee hee...
ReplyDeleteThe story behind this would be interesting, no doubt!
That is a great find! I have those nasty No Trespassing signs, they take all the fun out of life.
ReplyDeletehave should read hate
ReplyDeleteQuite a pile of rocks! Do you know what it was originally built for?

Oh Wow, that's a beauty. If you ever learn the story behind it you must let us know.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting find, wondering about the history of the building. Do let us know if you find out. Seen my share of those "Do not Trepass" signs as well.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely had me believing this fantastic fairytale. It certainly fits the part and would make a great backdrop for a movie of Sleeping Beauty. Since Canada is a relatively new country where castles and kings are hard to find, such designs are usually a hotel or some architect’s idea of a dream home. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure these days, Prince Charming can fly in on his white helicopter and air-drop in on her!
ReplyDeleteWhat a strange and fascinating structure. Looks like a good place from which to escape, prince or no prince!
ReplyDeleteHow very cool! It must have a wonderful story.
ReplyDeleteSo surprising to find such a castel here!I'm wondering about the story behind it!
ReplyDeleteEnchanting as well as enchanted. I wonder if someone lives there? It raises so many interesting questions, just by existing.
ReplyDeleteWell, it is big and it is interesting, but I think I will withhold "beautiful." There must be an explanation . . .
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place! I'm sure the prince will find a way.
ReplyDeleteThat is something!! Who would have guessed. I wonder if this is someones house or what.
ReplyDeleteWonder which tower she's sitting in? Anyone know if the prince has been contacted! I think the idea of the helicopter drop-in is perfect! Such an interesting building and another great post for the day! Hope your week is off to a great start! Enjoy!

Weird things going on out there in the countryside! You will have to do some investigating and let us know what it is all about.
ReplyDeletePretty impressive home ...um er castle!!!
ReplyDeleteCarolina Mts
How generous! You didn't even want the prince for yourself!
ReplyDeleteAlmost unbelievable: you have found a real treasury!
ReplyDeleteThat is an impressive structure. I wonder if Prince Charming will rescue her! :)
ReplyDeleteGood story. Maybe you can find the Handsome Prince and take him back there!
ReplyDeleteI almost got in trouble last week for trespassing on somebody's property in order to take a picture of an old pickup truck. They were not happy with me at all but I finally yakked myself out of my dilemma and escaped at the first opportunity!
EG...I know the prince would know how to get in. I love these shots. They are so magical and bring out the inner child in me. The colors are beautiful. About my post with the fence and the barn. Inside that small barn is the “famous” Land Rover” my son drove off our “Bridge to Somewhere” after his driving lesson out in our front field. One of these day, I am going to drag out the telephoto and get a shot of it from the rear to post. I see it every single day on my way home from work and I still feel sad. I really do miss it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous castle! I can see an entire story unfolding just looking at it!
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine coming on something like this...I might have been speechless......nooooo, that is impossible.
ReplyDeleteI had no clue she was from there. She had some castle!
ReplyDeleteIncredible! Somehow, Ajax doesn't sound too good though! :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm a huge fan of castle! Thanks for this adorable post!
ReplyDeleteLéia
You must find out the rest of the story. PLEASE!! MB
ReplyDeleteMy husband works in Ajax and he hasn't told me anything about this castle yet!!! I'll have to be on the lookout.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I'm sure a prince would know how to get in. :)
Yep, the prince would find a way in. Great find!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting castle. Sleaping beauty.
ReplyDeleteOh such a wonderful castle!! We don't have many of them in my country..

ReplyDeleteMy uncle built this castle, his name was Frank van Lieshout. I have a VCR tape at my mother's house with him narrating the construction. I (or my brother who has also messaged you) can explain more.
