Lovely image! Quite often here in FL here are ponds behind or next to shopping centers or commercial buildings -- they are wetlands mitigation ponds and, as I understand it, when developers build in our area (which is essentially one big wetland) they have to add some kind of water to make up for what they've paved over.

The other pond (the one that still has ice on it) is the reservoir a few kilometres north and east of this one.
