Urban Deer/ Camera Critters

Out and about

Deer appear to be getting very brave. Cars don't seem to bother them much...

Oops! Did I hear a shutter click?

...but people with cameras are very scary!

    I can't get close enough to the deer around here to get a good shot. The shutter scares her more than a car. Not good. I hope her mother taught her to look both ways before crossing the street.

    So cute! These cute little things can be a real pain, though. I remember in Minneapolis they'd come in the yards and eat everything in sight!

    What a cute young one! We saw deer running through the backyard of the first house we bid on in Pickering. We thought it was a sign. Guess not. :)

    Those are superb captures!!

    We have LOTS of issues with deer running in front of cars around here - not fun to drive at night when you can't see them.

    ah, i love deer. i have about thirty who visit our farm each evening. their coats are scruffy with change but soon they will be covered with summer's coat of golden browns. if you love flowers or veggies, i am giving away a white flower farm gift certificate. i would love for you to visit sometime soon! happy spring!

    Great closeup captures. I have actually seen deer on our road waiting on the roadside for a car to pass before crossing! Birdman is right about deer and gardens not mixing! Many of our gardener neighbors have electric fences; however one friend had a deer jump the electric fence and then proceed to eat all the fresh little veggies coming up!

    She is so sweet -- sorry you scared her, but glad at the same time, because the picture is excellent! Deer do seem able to adapt to population growth (unless the people have cameras evidently!)

    I Love the Deer!!!! and am always excitied when I capture their essence with my camera....But!!!!!unfortunately they can cause severe damage to your property, may it be you car, flower or vegetable gardens and of course the deadly ticks infected with Lymm desease....my son-in-law was sick for weeks and my daughter's car was totalled!!!!! I wish people would not encourage them to suburban areas, they belong in the wild were they are safe from harm as well as ourselves....

    Oh, deer are in the city!! Is it usual? They don't seem to be afraid
    of people. In Nara Park, there are about 1100 wild deer. Deer world and human world are overlapped. So, sometimes there are troubles.
    I hope they would be able to go home safely.

    I haven't seen any urban deer around here but hubby saw an urban coyote the other day. I wish it would do something about that rabbit that is eating my garden.

    That little guy is cute and under the tree feeding. It's that one back there nibbling on the bushes that you have to watch out for. :)

    Great capture! Why do deer roam into city? Probably for the sake of food. In and around Nara Park, humans and deer coexisted for more than 1000 years. If we see deer in the city, we are not supposed to give them food to let them back to the woody, grassy part, othrewise they would appear in city more often. There are "watch out deer" road-sign on the roads in Nara Park.

    Its interesting how the deer are adapting to city life. Perhaps they are finding it safer than living in the forest & fields. Never the less we can expect more and more of this as we encroach upon their homes.
