Delaware Skipper/ Macro Monday

Delaware skipper sipping nectar of columbine blossom

I'm very fond these skippers with fuzzy looking wings and big black eyes.

  2. They look so soft and fuzzy. :) That sounds more like a description for a teddy bear or bunny.

  4. The richness of the brown against the green leaves makes an eye-catching photo.

  5. These fellows look very fuzzy-wuzzy. Love the coloration in the capture. Went upstairs yesterday and brought down my moth and butterfly book for the summer. We are seeing more, but they have a long ways to go to be here in mass like they were last summer. Great shots. Genie

  9. I took some photos of these a few weeks ago, not knowing what they were, they are so very unusual with those double wings and huge wide set eyes. Now I know what they are I can post a photo :-)

They are also incredibly difficult to photograph - somehow they are not photogenic at all, I know not why.
