Look what's at the end of the pier!
Have you ever been told to take a long walk off a a short pier? (Is that the same as "Go jump in the lake"? I think so.) Well anyway, I did take a slow long walk down this long pier, stalking the great blue heron standing on the rocks at the end. It was a good thing I took this shot before I was close enough to get a good shot because it wasn't long after that that the heron flew off. Even though the heron is quite tiny in this photo, I rather like the look of this pier at sunset.
I am linking to Watery Wednesday where you can find many more watery photos.
Fantastic capture and composition, I love the peaceful feeling in this picture, the lake is beautiful!

I wish birds were more excited about being photographed. They are very difficult subjects, but I love it when I'm able to capture one. At least this one led you to an amazing shot of the pier and the water beyond.
ReplyDeleteThe shot is great, the heron must have been tempting you out to the end of the pier just for this.

love the silvery blues.
ReplyDeleteLove all the blue colors in this photo.
ReplyDeletelovely water view, i am unable to walk out on a pier with no railings like this, I suffer from fear of water and walking on this is something i can not do.
ReplyDeleteLovely. So peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it must have been a delightful walk. Can almost smell the water.
ReplyDeleteI love places like this. I love sitting on a pier on or the shore reading or just watching the lake, the light reflecting from the water, the birds....perfection
ReplyDeleteI like your sunsets! so serene..
ReplyDeleteFabulous shot!
ReplyDeleteLovely blues and that pink sky - wonderful! The heron just finishes it off nicely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and the Heron adds to that beauty.
ReplyDeletenice shot! I do see the heron clearly. I've never had any luck with them hanging around long enough for me to get close.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised at how broad an environment the blue heron lives in. It is in Florida, and Connecticut, and Ontario. (And probably many other states.) Those are three very different environments!
ReplyDeleteAlthough you didn't get the shot of the heron you wanted, this is a wonderful photo of the pier, rocks, lake and sky. Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful soft tones in the sky highlighting the shapes round the water!
ReplyDeleteIt would be very pleasant to jump off the dock right now, it's hot and steamy!
ReplyDeleteI love the soft colors in this shot. Looks so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteLove the pinkish sky.
ReplyDeleteThey always do fly off don't they? This is a lovely photo, lots of reflections and a pretty sky and the pier does look lovely at sunset.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colors. So calming. I'm ready to jump off the dock and swim.
ReplyDeleteI really like this photo, too...just so peaceful....looks like the quiet time of day.
