Uxbridge, Ontario
Last Saturday was a cool, dreary day but I hardly noticed because hanging from every lightpost in downtown Uxbridge, banners announced a studio tour of local artists, an annual early autumn treat that has happened for 26 years.
There were 27 venues and I'm going to tease you by telling you about only three. A few studios were right in town, but the three I'm showing here were out in the countryside.
Head of the welcoming committee
Close to a field of ripening soybeans, this former garage for antique cars displayed the work of potter and painter Saundra Reiner.
To see Saundra Reiner's work visit HERE.
On the outside of a former farmhouse turned studio
Mixed media artist Lynne McIlviride Evans' work exploded with colour!
To see more of Lynne's work, go HERE
Doors open wide on a HUGE barn
Abstract acrylics - "spontaneous displays of colour and form inspired by nature" - hung inside. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a website for Max Kalinowski but the work of guest artist Marni Grossman's fine art photography, also hanging in the barn, can be seen HERE
More photos from Our World can be seen by clicking HERE.
What a fun way to spend the day.
ReplyDeleteI used to go for the studio tours sometimes in the Colingwood area. Wish I had the old blue Citroen then (not that I have one now, but it would be perfect if I did) :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I truly love art shows. Ones in a barn are amazing. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteAbout the comment on my blog about my SD card seems my camera is the culprit. I am so upset I have to take it back. One problem you cannot get another one right away. Stupid store policy (Canon). I have no idea how I will make it through without my camera. Oh I am sure I can find my old one. :) B
Studio tours are such fun. Thanks for the links, I always enjoy viewing artists work.

A very eclectic mix...which always adds interest and appeals to a wider audience. Looks like lots of fun!
ReplyDeletei just want to go into that barn!
ReplyDeletethese are awesome, all of them, but I love love love the first one with that sweet little girl dog sitting there. super shots, all three
ReplyDeleteA fantastic event...and if it's gone on for 26 years it must be very well-regarded and well-attended. I love that dog in picture #1. The artistic ability of many humans continues to amaze me as does the intelligence and love of our canine friends!
ReplyDeleteThis would be an awesome way to spend the day! I love the unique aspect to the exhibition areas. These can be almost as interesting as the art itself. And I do adore the welcoming committee in the first studio you have pictured … the dog seems poised to be sculpted. :)
ReplyDeleteI like that second photo. The dog is so cute. Great shots!!

I was on the studio tour on Sturday too... I was at Lynn McIlvride Evans' and also Saundra's... wonder if I saw you there? Then I visited a couple more studios near Stouffville on Sunday. I'll be posting some pictures, wish I had pots of money to spend on some of the beautiful art and pottery and sculptures that I saw this weekend. What a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend a day. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
ReplyDeleteThat skeleton painting is going to give me nightmares! I like studio tours, but maybe I would skip that studio.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! We have a "First Friday Art Walk" here in our area and I have only missed a couple in three years.
ReplyDeleteYou really didn't have to go and do this!
ReplyDeleteI love studio tours, as much for the arts as for the locations. I am looking forward to the Thanksgiving one in Horseshoe Valley, never miss it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great way to spend a day. Love art tours like this.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! What fun indeed! I love tours like this -- like everyone else! Terrific captures for the day!! Hope your week is off to a great start! Enjoy!

All your photos are great, but that poodle is killing me!
ReplyDeleteIt would be delightful to tour the various galleries... but I imagine one can visit them year-round, not just during the "studio tour" time...? 27 would be a heavy load on the senses. But yes, surely, these colours of all the art would brighten any dreary day.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the teaser of the studio tour. What fun to get to go see all the different ones.
ReplyDeletethe chaos for the skimmers was the photographer stomping her foot to make them fly. Oh yes she did
ReplyDeletewelcoming commitee is cool :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa, great art, great buildings, what more can you ask for. The dog is absolutely adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day, I love the welcomming doggie and the barn is cool. Wonderful photos from your studio tour. Thanks for sharing, have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh! Great art and cute welcoming committee! & I love how old barns look!
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
& Thank you so much for your kind congratulations on the news of our future grandbaby :o)
That's interesting. Some of the art is indeed very colorful.
ReplyDeleteI love how they've installed railings in the barn doors in your last photo. Too cool!
ReplyDeleteThat is one adorable welcoming committee!
ReplyDeleteDid you buy anything? I usually need a little something whenever I go on a studio tour :)
What a unique and interesting tour of local artists!! I wish I could visit there and greet the head of committee.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photos.
Have a wonderful week.
Best wishes,
Keiko
What a fun and interesting event!
ReplyDeleteThis experience would be like tasting a wide range of creative spirit! I would so love this! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteYou are a naughty tease and have whetted my appetite. I'll have to come back to explore the individual artists.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing
Johnina :D
Looks like a wonderful tour. Love the barn studio.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more.
So picturesque! The head of the welcoming committee looks very elegant and that barn studio is just charming! As far as art goes, the bright red painting certainly is an eye catcher!
ReplyDeleteI am very interested in their art work, and I click on their respective sites later.
ReplyDeleteWe have the downtown art walk every Thursday but it is held at night.
Great pics and interesting art.
ReplyDeleteLove the dog greeter. MB
Looks like fun- I would love to go on the tour! In some cities here they have turned old mills into studio space- it is nice to see the old buildings being used for art.
ReplyDeleteDes images super jolies!
ReplyDeleteAll the venues look interesting. Love the poodle welcoming committee!
ReplyDeleteAn interesting way to spend the day. I love that colourful skeleton.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous way to have a studio tour. It is wonderful that the artists’ works are displayed in such personal locations. Sadly, here in Lexington we just walk from building to building on the first Friday of the month...no personality at all...just different artworks each month. I prefer the way you all do it. Actually, I LOVE the way you all do it. Please show us more in the days to come. genie
