Autumn Leaves/ Our World

 Autumn Leaves?

It's October and the leaves are changing so my husband and I decided to head for Ontario's Cottage Country early Saturday morning. When we started out,  the skies were overcast, but Environment Canada had promised sunshine and we ALWAYS trust the weather people (NOT). Well, we live in hope.

However Environment Canada was correct. The skies did clear. But the first changing leaves we saw were disappointing.

 Traveling into Cottage Country

We traveled on...and low and behold, there was not only light but also colour.

 Now, that's BETTER

This is the life, don't you think?

A closeup of almost blinding colour

  4. What a romantic place! Your leaves are what we are hoping for, but this darn low pressure system over us has brought rain for the past 5 days, and won't give up! I am a weather watcher for one of the local TV stations, and even I can't change it. LOL
Aboutthe walnuts, after they are dry we roll them on the floor under foot till the outer shell comes off and then put them into a vice to carefully crack them.
    Have a wonderful trip.

  9. We spent Saturday evening at the first annual Toronto Oktoberfest. It was very, very cold! Should have gone out to see the changing trees instead. :) You got some really nice shots.

  12. Fantastic colors in October. In Norway it is also beautiful fall colors now, especially in the mountains.

  13. I'm jealous of those brilliant colors you've found! It never gets that colorful here in the San Fran Bay Area. Those "cottages" along the waterfront are quite delicious!

  14. Our colors are just starting, but it's been very cloudy and rainy, so the colors are very muted. I like you blinding color :-)

  15. The Cottage Country on Lake Simcoe?

You're trying to make us Floridians jealous, aren't you? We get some color change here in north central Florida but usually not until December!

So lovely. I am jealous. Well, envious, at least!

  17. The turning leaves are gorgeous -- I think a number of us were having the same thoughts as we celebrate the beginning of fall in many of our worlds! Love that last capture in particular, but they're all beautiful! Hope you have a lovely week ahead!

  21. I like seeing your reds and oranges which we don't get here at high altitude. Seeing the water view is an extra bonus for me!

  22. I really love the colors you northerners get as opposed to what we get here in the west. How much more colorful your leaves are.

  23. The leaves are just turning brown, not much colour, so I really enjoyed seeing your photos!

  26. Amazing colours. I've only seen the leaves in Ontario once, and I was there for a funeral, so I didn't have a camera or even think of one. I'll have to come back.

  31. That certainly is some great color! We have such limited color where I live, we have the beautiful aspen trees with their golden fall color but not much else for variety.

  32. I need sunglasses to view that last photo. ;) Outstanding.

  33. How I envy you. These colors are just lovely. My favorite season got to be fall but we have never experienced it here in a tropical country. I did spend one fall in Toronto and the Niagara Falls though.

  34. This looks like a pretty place to spend the weekend. So far, we haven't had much change of color, and what we are getting is pretty weak. I have read that the forecasters here predict a duller autumn than usual.

  35. Love the leaves and fall colors. We went to the mountains over the weekend but it is far too early for leaves to change here. We will look at yours while we wait.
Beautiful shots. What a lovely area.

  37. Blazing red, that's what I love in the Northeast or Northwest, but not where we are.

But hopefully, we can see the same colors on our road trip this weekend.

  38. Yep, there's nothing quite like a sugar maple for fall colour. It really is happening in your world. Fall is dressing herself up all right.

  45. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, I am so jealous of people that live where the leaves change such beautiful colors.

  46. The water shots are reminiscent of a pointillist painting! But it'll be a long 6 months before we see autumn colours downunder in OZ ...

  47. Beautiful Fall colours, and the boat house is lovely. I wouldn't mind living in that place! I wish the wind here would give our leaves a chance to turn colour before it blows them away!
