Mallard/ Camera Critters

Mallard eating a small fish

Until seeing this, I had always thought mallard ducks were herbivores. But this mallard was greedily devouring a small fish. I learned something new!

I tried to capture the fish above water, but the mallard was too fast for me. Maybe next time!

  1. I love that combination of its green beak and blue at the tip of the wing. I wonder what that color is useful for! Do you know its gender? haha!

  4. This has been a goal of mine for a long time. Just once I'd like to catch a shot of the fish in the beak of any bird.

  15. Quack! A very neat picture. I love the color of the water.
It seems it is true as long as there is any water ducks will find it. Mud puddles are no exception out this way. MB

  20. You should see the chickens when they find a mouse. It wouldn't make near as pretty a picture as this though.
