Mural on water treatment plant, Cobourg, Ontario
This mural depicts the early days of Cobourg, founded in 1798, and is a celebration of the town's bicentennial. As you can see, fourteen years after the celebration the mural is dirty and looking a bit worn.

ReplyDeleteI think this is fantastic! Such a beautiful scene.
ReplyDeleteIt may be old and dirty, but it is still amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love murals like that. Maybe it will get restored one day.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it is dirty it still looks wonderful. Amazing what painters will use for a canvas. Jen.
ReplyDeleteAfter being exposed to the elements for a few years, the painting is bound to deteriorate. Shame. But the colours are still vibrant and it still looks good.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful work by an artist with obvious talent.

Murals, even when need of a face-lift always improves the environment. Guess someone better get to the city fathers. It would be a shame if it was allowed to deteriorate even more.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a good cleaning and the application of some sort of sealer might be in order.
ReplyDeleteIt still looks better than a plain old water tank.
ReplyDeleteOh one of my very favourite places to be thank you :) B
ReplyDeleteThat is very well done and quite attractive and provides some interesting historical insights. I guess one needs to decorate a water treatment plant! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat w wonderful mural in a perfect place.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good even if it is a bit weather-worn!
ReplyDeleteThink of it as a misty view in patchy fog...!
ReplyDeleteWhat an intricate mural for a water ttreatment plant! Super nice. I now kind of wonder whether that Pretty Factory mural I posted a few weeks ago minght not be just that, too!
ReplyDeleteWorn but fabulous!! Love the weathered look:)
ReplyDeleteI'm from Ontario too!
What a lovely mural.
ReplyDeleteYes - just a bit misty! Good one.
ReplyDeleteEven old and dirty, the paintings are still beautyful and full of charm.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice mural that I hope it is kept up. It might call for the artist to actually do the work and sometimes that is not possible. We have a Whaling Wall mural in my neck of the woods and the artist has I believe repainted some areas of the work. Not sure if the city needs to pay the cost of that being done or not. Interesting look at the past, though, and so appropriately placed.
ReplyDeleteYes, worn, but beautiful and how wonderful that it is still visible. I know it must be hard to keep up, but so worthwhile! Really terrific and so are your captures for the day! I love the views you've shared with us!! Enjoy your week!

ReplyDeleteWonderful mural that is definitely in need of some loving restorative work... I hope they do it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely mural. Too bad it isn't being kept up.
ReplyDeleteIt could do with a touch up, but it's still nice.
ReplyDeleteI think murals are so interesting. Dirty, a bit worn, but wonderful!!!! Lovely art work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mural!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope steps are taken to preserve this wonderful mural.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I always love seeing these types of murals.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork in these murals. Thanks for sharing these lovely detailed paintings of the history of Cobourg.
ReplyDeleteIt is starting to show its age, but is still decorative.

ReplyDeleteNice mural showing days long gone, I wonder how great it must have looked at its prime. Pity that it is now a bit neglected.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

Interesting to see a slice from the past. Nice mural!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a water engineer, I often go and see these plants, but we don't have murals.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of beautifying otherwise drab areas with murals. The history in this one steps through the faded charm, and like the other posters, I hope the mural will be kept up.
ReplyDeleteOld and faded, yet so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how artists can contribute to beautifying our otherwise staid structures. Nice shots!
