Peeking inside a modern fire station, Newmarket, Ontario
Hmmm. I'm impressed by the neatness here. I wonder if these guys and gals always hang their clothes up at home too.
An old fire station, Meaford, Ontario
The doors are closed, the blinds are down. Don't you wonder if everything is as tidy inside as in the photo above?
Not to worry though. This is no longer an active fire station. It's now owned by a heritage society that plans to house historically significant documents and artifacts behind these doors and windows. I sure hope the society has installed fire alarms with working batteries, don't you?
Closer look at front door
I bet the latch and hinges are historically significant.
I am linking to Jenny Matlock at Alphabe-Thursday HERE
I've been to Meadford before and seen the fire hall there. It's a beaut and you have captured that in your photo.
ReplyDeleteI think firemen are pretty meticulous, especially about their gear.

ReplyDeleteThank goodness the building is to be saved, I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove this old building but something draws me to the coats hanging up it is a very powerful photo. B
ReplyDeletebeautiful building, love the hinges and door. cool way to hang their STUFF and i am betting HOME does NOT look like that
ReplyDeleteAn absolutely beautiful building! I love the big doors. And the hinges and latch make such great details. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful building and I love the red doors.
ReplyDeleteA very nice building and I'm glad it has been put to good use.
ReplyDeleteFirefighters are required to be neat as they have no time to find things if they are called out. Much like the Navy, I think. Neatness and cleanliness is next to godliness and the Navy folks took that old saw seriously!
LOVE that old firehouse and it's red doors!
ReplyDeletelove, love, love that old fire station building!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful old fire station! I love the closeup of the red door and the hinges.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous architecture. I love the door too. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteFabulous building! The only firefighter I know is very tidy.
ReplyDeleteHooray for firefighers! They do look like they keep things neat. Love that red door in the last picture.
ReplyDeleteDarla
I love that building...love the arched door...and the fact that things are RED!
ReplyDeleteFunny, the first through that crossed my mind when I seen the first photo was I bet they are not that neat at home!
It is a lovely building, I'm glad it's going to get a new lease of life.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of adaptive re-use of buildings like this.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful building, very neat and nice.
ReplyDeleteThey are very neat and tidy! I love those red doors! Great shot!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great photo!
ReplyDeleteI love our firefighters. They're giving First Responders a hard time up north in Elliot Lake.
Shameful.
The media is jumping on it, fueling anger, rather than comforting loved ones.
Greetings from Cottage Country!
Great beautyful building!and the clothes , so well in ranks, are impressive.
ReplyDeleteHi again!
ReplyDeleteGreat post – lovely building!
Hope you’re having a great week and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Happy Alphabe-Thursday
I don't know if it is because my dad was a firefighter but I see photos like the first one and my heart just sings.
ReplyDeleteAnd gorgeous door.
I just love, love, love all of these! That is an amazing old building.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous! Love the old buildings and the colors...
ReplyDeleteMy son was a firefighter and even though he was neat at work, he wasn't that careful at home!
Love it!
What a great old building, I especially like the doorway.
ReplyDeleteThe latches on the door of the old fire station are definitely ornate. I suspect that once the heritage society moves in, everything will be neat and orderly.
ReplyDeleteI love it when people and organizations maintain such classic buildings. - Margy
ReplyDeleteMy son was a fireman till he got "burned out" on it! Your post brings back memories of visiting him at his work. ...Love the doors on that old building - beautiful!
ReplyDeletebeautiful building photos...
ReplyDeletethanks
What a beautiful old building, and I'm happy to hear it's being saved. They don't make them like this anymore! (I was intrigued by the neat firefighter gear too - perhaps a necessity :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic post for the letter F..I always fight firehouse interesting, but the red front door top the cake today.
ReplyDeleteI love when they restore older buildings!!! And are they as neat as they are at work? Probably not:) It's like they say, you may have a car mechanic in your family but it's the last to get fixed:) They probably throw their shoes all over the house....because they can:)
ReplyDeleteI love the red doors. And I like the whole station. I am glad it will be used for something good.
ReplyDeleteAs for being neat and tidy at home....well....I wonder. MB
First of all, I would like to say, I think firefighters are just about the bravest people around. They go into the burning buildings that we are running out of. Thank God for them.
ReplyDeleteAnd, second, that red door photo is absolutely gorgeous!
Fabulous F post.
A fine tribute to some awesome fellows and ladies too! I agree with another comment here that firefighters are some of the bravest folks I see! Here in Colorful Colorado where I am a native we are surrounded by wildfires bruning out of control! These brave folks battle these blazes in 100 degrees temps without a single complaint. My heart goes out to them and those they are helping in these sad times. Please pray for Colorado and all the firefighters abnd folks losing their homes and some even their lives! Hugs Anne
ReplyDeleteThe fire house is lovely, as well as historically significant and of course, one day the picture of the inside of a 2012 firehouse will be historically significant too.
ReplyDeleteThe decorative hinges on a red door sure are pretty.
ReplyDeletewe could use a few of those fire fighters around here. Our mountain forests are on fire! It's the worst fire season ever.
ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous building!
ReplyDelete(My statcounter tells me you're in Kingston, my hometown. Will we see a pic or two?)
The historic firehouse is amazing! I love the architecture. The door itself is such a gem! I am so glad they are turning it into a museum!

ReplyDeleteLove your photos! My hubby was a firefighter in the Air Force prior to flying helicopters for the Army...he was very neat as a young firefighter and is still very orderly :o)...
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
I love old fire stations, trucks, and equipment. Thank you for showing us these 'pretties' for "F" words.
