Demolishing a house in the country
Lat Friday, it was sad but fascinating to watch an old house being torn down, but this one had been condemned. It was was on town property next to town soccer fields - recently purchased - and would cost taxpayers more than it was worth to renovate it.
A claw takes the wall down bit by bit
Among other problems, bats were living in the attic. I saw several anxious bats flying around, upset their home was being destroyed.

Always sad to see a homeplace torn down but sometimes necessary.
ReplyDeleteOh this is always sad I watch my old childhood home being torn down lately and it tugs at my heart. I wonder how many hearts are being tugged by this one. Great shots. B
ReplyDeleteIt's sad ending for the house. My childhood home was torn down and a hi-rise apartment build built on the site.
ReplyDeleteThat big red piece of equipment really looks like it is taking a "bite" out of the house. Sort of science fiction material.

It sure is sad. We watched an old church get taken down, but they saved every board, nail and shingle.
ReplyDeletealways makes me sad to see these old homes destroyed. one thing for sure here in USA we will never have centuries old homes like they have in Europe

ReplyDeleteI'd guess it was quite a fine-looking place at one time. Why does it almost always seem easier to destroy something than to build it?

ReplyDeleteI am sure they had good reason for tearing down this house. It is a shame the bats lost their home, I hope they find a new home soon. Cool photos.

That's kind of sad to see. The house doesn't look too bad but I guess bats in the attic is not a good thing. They carry a lot of disease in their excrement. Eww.
ReplyDeleteVery hard to witness. A little sad to see a piece of history disappear...and I understand. Hopefully the bats will find another place to call home. Pretty traumatic on a couple levels.
ReplyDeleteIt is a balancing act. Someone lived here and perhaps good memories were created here, but today it is in bad shape and the location can be put to a better purpose.
