Scavenger Hunt

 1. Nature

Moody sky over Lake Ontario. This was a mostly overcast week!

 2. Vintage

I haven't a clue as to how old this is, but it has a vintage look.

 3. Whimsical

I have never seen door pulls like this before. Have you?

 4a. Cooking #1

This is a paddle placed inside a jar to churn cream into butter.

 4b. Cooking

This person (at a local heritage site) packed butter into a wooden butter mold.

5. Week's best

One thing I hate to do is choose the best as I think "best" is subjective and ephemeral - this might be my favourite at this moment but maybe not be in the next. However, I do like this photo of milkweed ready to escape it's pod and fly in many directions.

  2. Wow I thought that was a horse head in the carriage. It is 3 am and I might be dreaming though.
I love all your shots especially the milk weed. B

  6. Wonderful series of images for your photo hunt. I love the shoe shot and the last one is my favorite. Have a great weekend!

  7. The first picture is gorgeous and that last picture brings back childhood memories because we would grab those pods and blow those seeds into the air hoping to see how far they would go. I would churn and help my mom make butter when I was a kid...I can still remember the pattern that the mold put on the butter.

  8. Good captures! The milkweed is my favorite. I think I'll try to find something for all these categories as I attend a syrup festival today!

  12. You have way too many "bests" to choose just one.
Love the door handles, and the carriage. All great finds and captures.

  14. I love the first photo, such beautiful colours and beautifully composed! I also love the whimsical use for shoes!

  15. You've got a whole bunch of "bests" here. But I think you're right about the milkweed photo. That first shot looks cold; I love that carriage in the second (and no, I wasn't around when those were in style!); I dislike those stupid shoes in #3 even if they're used as door handles; and #4 and #4a - well, grandma churned butter with a butter churn - I've not seen it done this way.

And I must say I like your description of the divided sky. Skyquake! Very good!

  16. Thank you for coming by to see me. Yes, I feel like a shut in all ready. Winter gets to me, but I am really trying to be upbeat about it. Your photos here are tremendous. Great job!

  18. I think you made a great choice for Week's Best. It's a great picture, and I don't have happy memories of milkweeds on the farm. The churn paddle brought back memories. My parents had a churn with a paddle like that which we used to make our own butter.

  20. I love your photo of the buggy in front of the tree which looks like a horse's head. That is a great shot, although I understand your appreciation of the milkweed shot.

Thank you for the visit and comment on my blog today. Believe we all have some strong emotions about antique dental chairs and drills. We never forget pain.

  23. Today I think the top nature shot of the shoreline is my personal favorite. It us all subjective and unexplainable, isn't it?

  26. dare I say that I have a pair of crocks in the same color somewhere hidden in the back of my closet - or are they? got a good laugh from that shot. I agree with your choice of 'best' - perfect timing, lighting, and subject.

  28. Great finds for the hunt! I'd like to meet the person with the Crocks as door pulls. The milkweed shot with light and seeds and fluff is magical. (Once in elementary school a long, long time ago, our class churned butter. Thanks for the memory.)
