S/Alphabe-Thursday

Water-tumbled stones and  brick on the shore of Lake Ontario

S is for STONE SHELTER

These lake-washed stones and brick reminded me that both are used as building materials for...

Stone house

fancy shelters and...

Stone cottage

not-so-fancy shelters and even...

Stone barn foundation

shelters for animals.

  11. I'm always amazed at the variety of rocks in our lakes and rivers. Being wet, shows off their colours to the best advantage.

  19. If I had my wish, I'd live in a stone house. Our old place in Ocala had a limestone facade and fireplace which were nice. No stone on this house.

And I love those washed stones...when they get washed enough they look like jewelry. I used to find washed glass in Lake Superior in Duluth and those pieces were beautiful!

  46. Those are nice stone structures, Ms. T.G. Most stones when polished and some even just wetted are very pretty. On my bucket list is a stone and/or small rock tumbler.

I've wished for one ever since 1960 when I first met a hobbiest with one.

  48. I love stone buildings - especially all the limestone around Kingston, Ontario. There is little stone used in building out here, despite the abundance of stone on the island. Your shots remind me of how much I miss Ontario architecture.
