This baby was AWOL and roaming the Pickering waterfront on Lake Ontario.
Concerned parent
The tern parents were watching from above and...
Hovering over baby
tried to distract anyone who got anywhere near the baby.
FYI: I wasn't as close as it looks. I cropped the photos considerably.

ReplyDeleteIt must be nerve wracking for bird parents when their offspring may be in a dangerous situation, I've watched it myself, they get so distressed. Fab shots as always EG.

ReplyDeleteThat baby is pickings for a predator in Pickering, Glad the parents are nearby. The 2nd shot is especially good! It's funny the way they've got their "wheels" up when flying - just like a real airplane!
