Baby Tern/Birding

 Baby common tern

This baby was AWOL and roaming the Pickering waterfront on Lake Ontario.

 Concerned parent

The tern parents were watching from above and...

Hovering over baby

tried to distract anyone who got anywhere near the baby.

FYI: I wasn't as close as it looks. I cropped the photos considerably.

I am linking with I'd Rather B Birdin'  HERE.

  16. It must be nerve wracking for bird parents when their offspring may be in a dangerous situation, I've watched it myself, they get so distressed. Fab shots as always EG.

  21. That baby is pickings for a predator in Pickering, Glad the parents are nearby. The 2nd shot is especially good! It's funny the way they've got their "wheels" up when flying - just like a real airplane!

  27. They seem to be very concerned. What is their mode of defense? Do they peck or flap their wings against you or what?
