Great Egret (Ardea alba) and Canada goose
Egrets are such elegant looking birds, don't you think. The great egret was quietly fishing in shallow water, slowly bending for a better look. Then with surprising speed this bird bent down and...
YUM!
caught a fish. A little more than a century ago egrets were nearly hunted to extinction - their feathers were used as hat plumes - but they are making a comeback.

ReplyDeleteYou show us such lovely birds and do it so well. It always surprises me when I hear about how short sighted people were to hunt any wildlife to the brink of extinction. It would have been such a shame to lose this beautiful bird.

Greetings Pia
That's great with the fish in the mouth! Glad to read the extinction threat is over. If only other problems could be overcome as well.
