Starling with feather
European starlings are often disliked birds, nevertheless in bright light their colours are dazzling - a shiny purple and green, not simply black as they appear from a distance.
Perhaps this starling was trying to "feather its nest."

Pretty shots, they are colorful when the light hits them just right! Happy Sunday to you!
ReplyDeletehis colors are amazing and i got a good chuckle from a bird carrying the feather of a much bigger bird.. and i am taking bets he is feathering his nest... love bothof these
ReplyDeleteThe feather is almost bigger than he is!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteThey may be a very abundant and invasive bird through some eyes...but I think they're gorgeous. As you say the iridescence is phenomenal. Love these images you've shown. Nature at its finest.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he was dusting!
ReplyDeleteIt is very busy.
ReplyDeletethey are remarkable in their 'sheen'. :)
ReplyDeleteStarlings are not my favorites either.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Yes,they are really very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed their feather patterns.
ReplyDeleteStarlings are not the most favored bird but they are living creatures and they are very shiny.
ReplyDeleteThese are terrific shots showing that they too, have beauty!
ReplyDeleteThey really are beautiful in the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteThe starlings are a nuisance, but I have to admit that they are pretty birds!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I'm not a fan, pretty as they may be. They can be so noisy and raucous and they've made a mess coming and going from nests they make in our shop building. And I can't help but think they make life harder for smaller songbirds.
ReplyDeleteThose feathers capture the light so well!
ReplyDeleteYou can't miss those colors.
ReplyDeleteThe feather colors are awesome.
ReplyDeleteStarling plumage is amazing when captured in the right light! And you got it in the right light!
ReplyDeleteYou caught the color so well. Wonder what the bird was doing with the feather.
ReplyDeleteDarla
They eat a lot of insects too!
ReplyDeleteWell done! The colors just pop! I think you're right; this one's about feather his/her nest!

ReplyDeleteZgadza się, pióra szpaka oświetlone słońcem mają śliczne kolory. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, the sun lit up the starling feathers are beautiful colors. Yours.
what a catch. For you and the starling. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree-- we tend not to appreciate the beauty in the commonplace. You captured the iridescence of their feathers so nicely!
ReplyDeleteYou're right. I love those colors, and they are surprising.
ReplyDeleteI like the name, too. Starling. It's beautiful, isn't it?
