1. Family: Larry, Curly and Mo three members of the Heron Family
(Great Blue Heron, Green Heron and Black-crowned Heron )
(Great Blue Heron, Green Heron and Black-crowned Heron )
This week I'm combining two memes because...well, because I can: Scavenger Hunt and I'd Rather B Birdin'.
I just love herons! They are smart (most of the time), clever (all of the time), handsome (sometimes), elegant (sometimes) and FUNNY (if you wait and watch).
2. Grass: Black-crowned Night Heron in the grass
OK, not grass like you see on lawns, but cattails, a member of the grass family. This heron was standing very, very quiet waiting for a frog or fish to happen by.
3. Silly: Great Blue Heron
This Great Blue Heron (GBH) had just practically landed on another GBH to scare it away from this fishing spot. Doesn't he look like he's laughing? He looked silly like this for at least five minutes, appearing to be very proud of what he'd done. (But he may have just been catching his breath,)
4. Half: Green Heron half on, half in the air
This green heron was in the middle of straightening his feathers. Can you stand on a log on one foot?
5. Bow: Black-capped Heron taking a bow
Let's hear it for the Heron family! YAY!

HI Tina Great photographs and wonderful caption to go with them. I really enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your assessment of the heron faimly of birds - always entertaining to watch and very photogenic as your pictures prove.
ReplyDeletei have not seen a black crown heron, he is beautiful. I can't stand on a log on TWO feet... and tell that great blue to Stop Laughing. he looks awful happy to me
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of Herons shots. Beautiful sightings of these wonderful birds.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a masterful job of photographing these birds.
ReplyDeleteFun post!! I can't stand on the floor on one foot. Boom & Gary of the Vernilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteLOVELY POST, I TOO LOVE HERONS, THEY ALWAYS PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE.
ReplyDeleteTAKE CARE GORDON.
great photographs...
ReplyDeleteI love herons too, they are so smart
ReplyDeletevery cute combining - and well done. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection of pictures. These guys posed for you as though on cue.
ReplyDeleteThat was fun! You did a good job of photographing these guys in various poses.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, my favorite is half.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic...and love that silly shot. Makes me want to chuckle just looking at it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice birds in your collection here. They are all so different in their personalities! A Great Blue is majestic and cunning anytime. The secretive Night heron is a graceful dancer. And the Green is a lurker from beyond and walks a tight rope!
ReplyDeleteA fun post with fabulous photos.
ReplyDeleteAwesome....y'know, I've never EVER seen a green heron with its wing open like that and all the lovely colors!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up this weekend at the Bird D'Pot!! Have a great week ahead.
1) looks like a few members of my family - some are definitely crazy as a loon.
ReplyDelete2) cattails counts as grass for me this week as well - so there, it is official. :)
3) the brows are furrowed, so maybe a cackle rather than a giggle - silly either way.
4)no, no I can barely stand with two feet on a log - but the toe thing, that does look a bit familiar.
5) What a gorgeously colored bird and taking a bow no less. Creative!
Beautiful shots of the herons.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that you filled this scavenger hunt with pictures of heron!!! You deserve a prize!!! Especially since you read b-o-w as bending over from the waist in appreciation of applause. Love it. I was afraid you were going to have a silk bow on one of their heads! By the way, love the Moe, Larry and Curly....funny, funny, funny!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous job with the hunt showcasing these wonderful Heron shots. I loved seeing them all.
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection! I love when the scavenger hunt fits nicely with other memes (or just the farm).
ReplyDeleteVery entertaining, and nice photos!
