Spotted Sandpiper/Wild Bird

 Spotted Sandpiper (Actitis macularius) on lily pads

During their breeding season - this photo was taken in late June - there's no doubt that this bird is a spotted sandpiper.  It was fun to watch it bob its tail up and down as it raced from lily pad to lily pad looking for munchies.

Last Saturday, another spotted sandpiper still had its spots, but...

Only ONE spot on this side

this one had lost most of his or hers. In winter their breasts are plain white,
