Harvest

The  harvest is in

Roadside stands in my area are chock full of fresh produce. The vegetables above are part of an informal stand, actually a wooden wagon at the side of the road. Customers pay using the honour system by placing cash in a locked wooden box attached to the wagon. I did noticed the owner/farmer way down his driveway keeping a watchful eye on us, though.

Besides taking a few photos, I did purchase some squash, choosing from an offering of buttercup squash, Hubbard squash, decorative gourds, small pumpkins, and a variety of squashes piled together.

The wild turkey shot was taken at Lynde Shores Conservation Area in Whitby.  Doesn't he look a tad worried? The harvest is in.  Hmmm. He may be wondering if Thanksgiving is getting very close.

  12. Love the wide variety of fall pumpkins, gourds, and squashes. They just look so abundant when all piled together as in your collage. And Mr.Gobbler does look a bit stressed. Is he the main event on your Thanksgiving menu?
