Adult Bald Eagle
I can't believe I've seen three bald eagles in less than a week!
Adult's profile
Sunday afternoon, my husband and I were driving along the southern shore of Lake Simcoe when we spotted this adult bald eagle sitting on the ice. I was about to have some fun taking photos of this handsome guy when a loud snowmobile happened by and scared him off, but at least I did get to take a couple of photos.
Juvenile Bald Eagle
Disappointed, I was about to get back into the car when this juvenile Bald Eagle flew over my head and...
landed close to a puddle in the ice and then walked into it. I couldn't see what the eagle was up to until I saw the photo on my computer screen.
Juvie guarding its frozen dinner
Looks to me like there's a frozen duck there and the juvie was laying claim to it.
I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE
that is just spectacular!! I'm so glad you were able to get such fantastic pictures so we get to see them up close as well.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the eagles are making a come back. A few years ago there were no wild turkeys here. Now there's plenty of them around.
ReplyDeleteThere is such a difference in coloring between the adult and the juvie. Glad you captured pics of both.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Gorgeous, you hit the jackpot!
ReplyDeleteOh these are incredible what luck and what skill to capture it. Thanks for sharing I love these. Hug B
ReplyDeleteIt is always great when you get to see these birds and even better when you get great shots like you did!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great opportunity- a lot nicer than over-decorated houses!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots of these gorgeous birds.
ReplyDeleteAmazing sightings ... and 3 of them. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteI still hope to see a Bald Eagle on my board fence but my wife says I am crazy to think that. I love this bird and they are about 7 miles away or you can see them there at the Stillwater River. I had hopes one would come over here but no luck so far. I really like that you have pictures of adults and immature eagles. There is a big difference in their coloring to be sure. There is a difference in the hawks that do show up here and I am always happy to see one of them here.
ReplyDeleteNice photos.
How wonderful for you to capture these. We can never get close enough. I love that last one.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful eagle shots CG. We see them lots around here but they're always in the sky.

ReplyDeletehe is gorgeous and so is that young one staring you down over his meal. what a find
ReplyDeleteCongrats on seeing 3 Bald Eagles in such a short time; your photos are great. That is an interesting observation about the eagle waiting for dinner to thaw out. I am wondering if in view of all that ice, the eagle has a a long wait?
ReplyDeleteVery exciting to come across these beautiful Eagles, and the last one was a fascinating capture.
ReplyDeleteThis is very exciting. And of course, there's a bit of jealousy here...

In awe! Yup that juvenile found a frozen dinner there! I have been trying to find something about where "our" Florida eagles go in the summer...who knows, this guy could be one of the two that hatched here last spring
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome shots of the Eagles. The last one with the duck is cool. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteLucky you to see them up close, gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteI see them rather often, or ours that is. But never can I get that close. Congrats to you.

Surely one of the best raptors worldwide. Great photos.

ReplyDeleteWow! Awesome shots of one of my favorite birds! I guess I love them not only for their majesty, but also for the verse that I think is from Isaiah 40:31 about rising up with strength like the eagles!
