Lake Simcoe at Virginia Beach
I guess it depends on whether you think December 1st is the first day of winter OR the Winter Solstice is (this year December 21at 12:11 pm) .
It sure looks like winter here! Close to Lake Simcoe's shore is covered in ice, not thick, mind you, but definitely ice. It's actually quite pretty when the light is good or sort-of good.
Wintery Weather
Largest square: Virginia Beach (L. Simcoe). Moving clockwise: stairs to a dock on the Trent-Severn Waterway; reflection of boathouse in Beaverton Harbour (L. Simcoe); Starling eating grapes on the shore on Jordan Harbour (L. Ontario); weird shaped ice - looks like logs - in Beaverton Harbour (L. Simcoe); and swirling snow on ice in Virginia Beach (L. Simcoe).
I am Linking to Mosaic Monday HERE.
Please visit Michelle at Rambling Woods for more NATURE NOTES.
It won't be long until the ice huts appear.
ReplyDeleteVirginia Beach! Ha! If Virginia Beach looked that here now, I guarantee you the values of houses would plummet overnight. :-)

ReplyDeleteIf that's not winter it certainly looks like it! According to my brother winter begins when there's ice to be scraped off the car.

it looks colder there than it does up here in Massachusetts! I don't count it as winter until the Solstice...which will be here soon enough
ReplyDeleteI'd love to explore this beautiful landscape, where winter has definitely arrived, in all its glory, unaware of man's titles and time!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!

It's certainly more winter than we ever see here! Here some people actually wear jackets with their shorts!

I love winter and this is such a nice collection. I especially love the blue waters framed by the brown grass in the lower right of the collage.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. It definitely looks like winter to me.
ReplyDeleteWinter certainly does seem to have arrived quite early this year. We've been much colder than usual. Hope it means an early spring. Love that first shot!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Yes, it's winter in spirit already, isn't it? :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely wintry photos in your collage. I quite enjoy the change of seasons.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'd call that winter alright. :) And I was just thinking that I wished for a bit colder weather here in England...just a little dusting of snow, that's all. Both Oxfordshire and Vancouver are typical dreary rain. One year we had a white Christmas, about 4 yrs ago now, and all of England ground to a halt for a week. Happily it was over Christmas and so no one really minded so much...except the Royal mail and garbage pick up...that bothered some people. :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful images… it sure feels like winter has arrived here
ReplyDeleteA nice grouping of your great photos! I'm very happy that it's so mild here, but I do enjoy photos of "real" winter.
ReplyDeleteWhoosh...these are brilliant, just picture postacrd perfection!
ReplyDeleteI wish also most winter was almost spring, but you made it look beautiful.... Michelle
