Sailboats Sculpture

 'Sailboats" by Peter Macon

I have seen this sculpture next to the harbour in Rochester, New York many times,  but the day I took these photos I was struck by the beautiful sunlight on the sailboats' sails.

Rochester -  on the south side of Lake Ontario - was once an important port for commercial traffic.  Now in summer it's a busy playground for smaller boats.

Same sculpture, the photo taken from across the harbour

Isn't it amazing how different the sculpture looks from the opposite side of the harbour?

  3. It is a graceful sculpture. You really did get the best light in the first pic.

  4. One would hardly believe it is the same sculpture; the play of light, and how you captured it, made all the difference!

  5. Oh, I like this very much. It's not only physically attractive but the way it's done leaves the viewer with a sense of movement/motion. Nice shots, too!

  12. The different coloured sails totally change the look of the sculpture. I like the varied tones that show up in the first photo. It looks like a very old sailing ship.

  18. I love the sailboat sculptures. I used to have a sailboat and miss sailing although at this point in my life I'd be too chicken for some of the close sailing calls I had (unexpected major storms etc.).
