Owl in the Window

How much is that ow-wel in the window?

Remember the song about the doggy in the window? (You can thank me later for the earworm I may have just planted in your brain.)  Owls seem to be popular props these days and this one (wearing a license plate?) is helping to sell earrings and pendants in a Newmarket jewellery store window.

  10. Not only humming the song but trying to remember who made it popular way back in the day. Was it Patty somebody?

  12. Yes, know the song. Love your comment about the bird wearing a license plate, but I'm not sure that is an owl. It is some other kind of bird. A pigeon? At least pigeon fits the song better than owl.

  20. Knowing nothing about ornithology, I was surprised by how sure I am that that is not an owl. Maybe it's my devotion to Harry Potter movies.

  21. I'd always understood that it was magpies and jackdaws that stole shiny things to decorate their nests. Interesting reflections.
