  1. No thanks!
It may need more than a lick of paint by the look of it.

  3. Patina, EG. That's patina. No paint required. ;-)

  4. The fence in my backyard looks like that. But before I get a chance to paint it, I need to paint my front steps. And before I get a chance to do that ... so it goes.

    Reminds me of Tom Sawyer.

  5. Nice shot. Where is Tom Sawyer when you need him? :)

  6. I think some sandpaper might be a good place to start. It would be nice all painted in white, but it has character as it is.

  7. I was thinking the same thing. Tom Sawyer needs to con some of his friends into doing it.

  8. You spotted this deterioration nicely.

  9. It is a nice find and I wouldn't mind painting it. It needs a good sanding would be the hard part.

  10. Now that is a genuine picket fence. Yes, I would bring some sandpaper, too, to be sure the new paint sticks. Lovely photos.

  11. It's seen a lot in its time by the look of it !!

  12. ...either a sand blaster to remove all the old paint and get nothing but wood showing, OR get Tom Sawyer to white wash it.

  13. even scraping first wouldn't help, i don't think! makes a great photo, though!

    thanks, cameragirl!

  16. Greetings, EG. Hope things are going OK up your way! I'm back posting (at least intermittently)...and I appreciate your visit!

This poor fence needs more than a brush, methinks. A brush and some white paint would help, but sometimes one needs to start all over!

  22. It does need some TLC, doesn't it. But, it's still pretty in my book.

  23. It's the kind of chore that you tend to put off!

  24. It does need help but I think I will let someone else do it. Great photos!

  25. Might be too late for some of those pickets. I like that first shot, very pretty.

  26. It looks like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are needed there! A good coat of paint and it will be great!

  27. I think new timber may be required to correct this one!

  28. Nice shots.
    I too feel Tom Sawyer's absence. :)

  29. Oh my, it sure needs a good coat of paint.

  30. I like the "weathered" look!

  31. I think the peeling paint gives it character. But, if it was my fence, I'd have to do something. White fences are pretty, but a pain to maintain.

  32. I really like the peeling paint.
It gives it so much wonderful texture.

  33. The fence could use a coat of paint but I kind of like the way it looks. I have a weakness for anything in disrepair. I find beauty in the ragged.

  34. Very 'Shabby Chic' - somebody would love this fence to decorate a wall with! :) Karen

  35. Just the perfect job for Tom Sawyer! I know it needs paint, but I also love it as is.

  36. Been there, done that...HARD work. I sure do love that yellow front door on the house behind the fence!

  37. Need someone with a scraper, or a power brush first!!! I love the texture of peeling paint!

  42. Wow, these pictures make me want to get out my scraper. I like the scraping but not the painting. lol Nice pictures.

  45. Lovely weathered fence but I think it need a 'lick of paint'!

  46. Reminds me of Tom Sawyer and how he got his fence painted.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow, that does need some attention! Great old fence, though!

  48. A fence like this is so charming as a subject of photography, but it doesn't work with a well-maintained property.

  49. A little (or maybe a lot) of TLC would go a long way! Picket fences can be so pretty!

  50. It reminds me of the fence my grandpa built around his yard. Since it was wood he had to repaint it often.
