Early June

Wild lilacs seen along country roads

Right now central Ontario's country roads are decorated with flowering lilacs and

Dandelions

and !@#$% with dandelion fluff.

  1. What beautiful lilacs these are. That is one of my very favorite flowers, and love the scent of them. Sadly , they do not do well in Texas, so have to look at others shots. Gorgeous!

  2. Dandelions have the most fascinating structure--dandelions and thistles.

  4. Dandelions? Boy, do we have a bumper crop around here! I shudder to think what next year will be like with all the seeds blowing around. Soon it should be hot enough that these little pests will be smothered out - at least for another year!

P.S. The lilacs are beautiful. I think I can actually smell them!

  15. We used to play a game with Dandelion seed heads - tell the time by slowing the seeds away - however many breaths it took was what the time was - Oh wasn't it fun to be a child.

Now I shudder when I see them in the grass - however if they get out of hand and reach the seed head stage wild parrots and cockatoos sometimes come and visit to eat the seeds.
    Take care

  19. Our soil is dandelion-friendly. Perhaps I should grow them as salad greens.

  20. I love the simple wild lilacs, even if they sucker madly, they are the kind I have in my garden. I wish I were in Ontario right now.

  23. I just love the smell of lilacs in the spring and even though the dandelion is cheerful, it is a nuisance.
