Light and shadows on the shores of Lake Simcoe
L is for LIGHT
Photographers try to control and manipulate light. For sure, some types of light tempt me to take photos more than others.
Early morning light
Golden morning light is something I love. Unfortunately, you do have to get up early -especially in summer - to capture early morning sunlight.
Back lighting shining through this mandevilla plant
Evening light
And I also love late afternoon/evening light.

I love the play of light on the land... beautiful, beautiful captures. =)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous...each and every photo share!
ReplyDeleteAnd I loved your three birds for WBW post below this one.
You are sure right about the golden hours -- both early and late -- are the best times for photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the shadows on the rock, in the first image, but my favourite of them all is the last one, the setting sun and the barn!!
ReplyDeleteI could never get up early enough to catch the morning light. You have done a superb job with the light in these photos.
ReplyDeleteSplendid examples of light here. I love that evening shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of early and evening light EG. The hardest light is midday don't you think, especially in summer.. so harsh.
ReplyDeletel for lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's fun getting up in the a.m., unfortunately, the bugs are bad, too!
ReplyDelete(ツ) from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
Beautiful shots of good examples of different light.
ReplyDeleteWe have fog this morning. I took the dog for a walk at 6:30 and all I got was a Mosquito bite. MB
I love the early morning, ;cept the bugs do, too!
ReplyDeleteI love early morning light. Nice shot of the barn.
ReplyDeleteYou picked some nice examples of light. I also like the golden early light but not the getting up part! :)
ReplyDeleteMorning light always alludes me. I lie in bed thinking about this problem but cannot figure out why.
ReplyDeleteThese are all such beautiful photos and examples of different kinds of lighting. I really like the last photo of the barn with the sun either setting or rising.
ReplyDeletethat golden morning light is my favorite light of all. each morning i stand with coffee in hand and stare up at the trees to the west because the sun coming up in the east is slowly painting all things it touches. this photo looks like you used my crayons on it. beautiful
ReplyDeleteYou show beautiful examples of light – my favorite is Evening Light; it has beautiful colors. I find it hard to take photographs in hard noon-day lights, it is tricky.
ReplyDeleteI rarely see early morning light, EG! ;-)
ReplyDeleteA very painterly quality to the light in all of these but particularly that first shot.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the golden morninglight. Fantastic building.

Morning, noon or evening, your world is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm a morning person, and I love the light in your 'morning' picture! Those colours are amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou've captured so many different ones here and they change every day so you could go on, and on!
ReplyDeletei love both of the barn shots. they are just too gorgeous!! nice ones, my friend. glad you shared. ( :
ReplyDeleteThe second picture of the barn in early morning is my favorite. It is wonderful!!! The light is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe barn shots with the two different types of lighting is fascinating. Light plays such an important and dramatic role for artists and photographers. Beautiful photos...as usual.
ReplyDeleteThat gold morning light is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe barn shots are particularly nice. The first one is glowing and the second barn image gives such a peaceful feeling.
ReplyDeleteLovely images. I agree with the others, the barn shots are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt's always about the light. Ken Rockwell, photographer extraordinaire, says you get up before sunrise and then nap during the day so you could go back out to photograph as evening sets in. I agree, but generally am too lazy so have to deal with too bright sun and too much contrast! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect lighting and perfect photos. I love the shadow of the leaves on the rock.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images!
ReplyDeleteGreat examples of beautiful lighting. I love your morning and evening shots especially; the light is just right and the scenes are gorgeous. I'm among those who can't seem to "do" mornings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos
ReplyDeletethanks
Wonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful subjects for the theme. Very well framed.
ReplyDeletelove the glow of the barn.
ReplyDeleteTiming is everything...photographers are either very patient, or lucky♪ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/looking-up/

Lovely blossom, and love the lighting shots!
ReplyDeleteLovely "L" posts - I too am fascinated by light and chase after it with my camera every chance I get...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots of so many kinds of light. You always seem to capture difficult things well.
ReplyDelete=)
Count me in for that evening light.
ReplyDeleteWoW, gorgeous light!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures. Perfect for the topic!
ReplyDeleteI so love these! I could not begin to choose which I like best.
ReplyDeleteYou're a master at perfect shots...a nice tutorial for me as a rank amateur .
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots as always, especially the second and last one. I think the last one is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly know about light because you have taken some beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteInteresting play on light. The type of lighting really does affect the composition of the picture taken. Nice shots!!!
ReplyDeletewhat wonderful light in these photos. You have such a gift for photography. Do you sell prints? By the way, my dermatologist was a very good friend, so he felt comfortable telling me that I was old. He's even older!!
ReplyDeletelight! lovely light!
ReplyDeleteI do love backlit flora. and sunsets. I'm seldom out in early morning. The first photo is wonderful!
Photography really is all about the light. I personally love the evening golden light, so I don't have to get up early.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how that first shot almost gives a 3D effect.
ReplyDeleteLovely light!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the backlit flower capture!
