Park view of Toronto
Colonel Samuel Smith Park is located in the west end of Toronto known as Etobicoke. The park is largely built on landfill, as I explained in last Wednesday's post HERE.
Wildflower-lined pathway lined leading westerly
Although this wooded park is in the city, it doesn't feel like it. Wildflowers and wildlife thrive there. This time of year goldenrod and fall asters are blooming, and a few birds are making brief stopovers as they migrate south.
Marina in a cove on north side of park
The park includes a curved peninsula that creates a cove that houses a popular marina.
Pond on east side of park
And the park also boasts a pond teeming with wildlife.
Child on dad's shoulders
During the summer months, Colonel Sam is a great place for kids to explore and...
One of several park benches
for adults to take in sunshine while viewing Lake Ontario.

Ach! Goldenrod--my nemesis.

ReplyDeleteTerrific shots! I've heard of the park, and have no doubt passed by it considering the location, but I haven't been in there.
ReplyDeleteThese are all fabulous, but I love the shot of the marina! Wow wow wow.
ReplyDeletepretty place. love that marina photo!
ReplyDeleteYou were in my backyard!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful park! I really like that picture of the skyline.
ReplyDeleteGreat Shots! That is my old stomping grounds! Before moving to Newmarket, I watched that park grow over the years from an overgrown and unsafe space that I wouldn't consider walking through, to a safe, serene and enjoyable place for family times and solitary reflection! You have captured it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWow! The Toronto skyline in stunning.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely place! I love those incredible reflections on the bodies of water! Such a great place to have in the city!! Wonderful skyline of the city!! Thanks, as always, for sharing the beauty, EG!! Have a great new week!!

Oh yes, just a wonderful collection of places to see, and just be.
ReplyDeleteExcellent way for a landfill to end up
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place for nature lovers.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely - especially that third shot.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the marina and the view of Toronto's skyline.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! I especially love your water shots. Beautiful reflections.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great transformation of a landfill site. Everybody needs accessible greenspaces.
ReplyDeleteI love that blue skyline! The Marina is my favorite shot, though. It is stunning!! All the masts lined up with their reflection in the blue water, and water and sky the same shade of blue. This would look so beautiful hung on a wall, a huge panoramic picture of blue sky and sea with the masts.
ReplyDeleteYour world is so inviting ~ Wonderful photos of life! for OWT~ !

That second photo of the park has vibrant green and gold colors – very nice. As for the first photo of the view of Toronto – it looks like a photo of a futuristic city – I did not know Toronto had such tall buildings. I have been there many years ago, but it was for New Year, under the snow and I was so cold that I think I was in a state of hibernation!
ReplyDeleteThe park has amazing views all around.
ReplyDeleteLove that view of the marina.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to restore the landfill back to nature. Great view too.
ReplyDeleteHi Cranberry Morning,
ReplyDeleteEtobicoke has four syllables and the K is silent. E-toe-bee-coe ;)) It's the Mississaugan word for
"place where the alders grow."
A nice nature stopover in the big city!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of wildflowers within a city.
ReplyDeleteA familiar skyscape to me, but I had not heard of this park. There are many beautiful and scenic places in your area... Michelle
ReplyDeleteLooks like another nice spot to visit.
