Ferry landing on Lake Simcoe
The ferry that leaves from here crosses Lake Simcoe to Snake Island but...
Dock at ferry landing
it seems to be more of a snowmobile landing at the moment.
Black-capped Chickadee
Not ALL birds go south for the winter. Case in point, this Black-capped Chickadee.
American Goldfinch
Another bird that sticks around is the American Goldfinch.
White-throated Sparrow
And another bird I see this time of year is the White-throated Sparrow.
Please visit Michelle at Rambling Woods for more NATURE NOTES.
the little black and white chicadee made me SMILE... and there will be no ferries pulling into that dock any time soon.

precious little birds!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you still have snow, but the fluffy little birds are so darling, especially the goldfinch and chickadee.
ReplyDeleteThe Black-capped Chickadee is so very adorable - soft and fluffy. I hope the weather warms up for you soon.
ReplyDeleteCute little birds!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your line about a snowmobile landing--very fitting! Looks like everything is frozen!
ReplyDeleteLove the bird photos! I'm sending warm thoughts your way. Wish I could send you some warmer weather too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your bird pics as usual, EG! The melt has started!!! Hurray! The dock will soon be open for business.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet chickadee!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely winter strong eve, but pretty. Such a sweet birdie!
ReplyDeleteThe snow is almost gone here! I am not sure how I would deal with it if it just stayed here all winter long...I guess I would learn to live with it.
ReplyDeleteThese are such sharp, clear bird pics...I love it when you see the glow of their eyes.
Those birds are adorable. Your goldfinch differs so much from ours. You may not want to hear this, but your blanket of cold snow, is a gorgeous sight for the viewer. The benefit of the net. The beauty without the cold.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be weeks before that lake is open!
ReplyDeleteJust perfect critters and you caught them all!!!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteWow, you get goldfinch in the winter. Love your chickadee as well.
ReplyDeleteLove that little chickadee.
ReplyDeleteIt may still be winter, but those birds are a very welcome sight.
ReplyDeleteThe birds are adorable! All puffed up with the cold. I would try to stay away from Snake Island as hard as I could!
ReplyDeleteWhite landscapes are beautiful and those birds just adorable through your photos.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy day
